Matt found his start in the southwest mountains of Montana where he worked his way through school shooting and editing ski videos on the slopes of Bridger Bowl and Big Sky Montana. This was where he evangelized his style of capturing the "real story" of the skiing experience through weaving the actual events from the people who were living it, opposed to simply creating action montages set to music. That was the beginning of Matt's lifelong love affair with the documentary style of storytelling.


Today, Matt is the driving force behind his freelance online brand- Visual Jelly; a 'sticky' digital media approach that centers on the concept: “Facts Tell. Emotions Sell.” Matt explains “…emotional based "stories" stay with a viewer far longer then words or facts on a page. If you are successful in reaching the 'gut' or emotions of your prospect they will be motivated to learn more and share your message with others."


Matt's experience is grounded by years serving as a television video editor and motion graphic designer for a vast range of broadcast, direct response, ad agency, and corporate clients. It was from the edit suite chair that Matt fostered opportunities to work with, and be mentored by, some seriously talented directors and shooters. Matt explains, "The editing process is a unique window on video production methodology and is the ‘control-center’ of the production workflow when so many decisions are being made" This exposure was what gave Matt the solid foundation to transition into developing and managing full-cycle video projects executed with a proven, stress-free method influenced from years of this unique perspective as directors evaluated the quality of the pre-production process, the location acquisition, and effectiveness of how the final product was coming together.


Matt's entrepreneurial spirit, deep understanding of connecting his audience to visual media, and undying sense-of-humor combined with traditional education has landed Matt in various production roles over the years like; project management, field producing, shooting, video editing, creative development to motion graphic design, Matt feels that obtaining in-depth understanding of all the production roles while concentrating on the 'story' allows him to 'un-clutter' and streamline the production workflow to deliver higher quality, high impact media, at lower costs and with far less management headache.


Rolling up his sleeves and doing what it takes to get the job done right has earned opportunities to work for several national and international outlets like PBS, Raymond Entertainment, Access Hollywood, NBC, and CNN where he lived and worked in places like Dubai, Buenos Aires and Lima to name a few. But whether working for large outlets or corporate clients Matt always personifies the same vision, methodologies and quality-driven work ethic.
