LOOKING TO ADD FLV OR H264 VIDEO TO YOUR SITE?
Well, we all the like the words free! Today, there are many options for posting your video on your site. I thought it was a good place to start a series on video players wether paid, free or popular publishers. It is impressive how advanced some free players are as many incude full screen, sharing options, and galleries. Take a look and make sure you add any of your favorites.
JC Player is an easy to use flash video player that can be fully customized to load general video content (flv). JC Player (Jumpeye Components Player) is developed to work with both Flash CS3 & Flash CS4 and can be used freely for non-commercial purpose.
Bit Gravity is a pretty nifty solution. You can simply upload your compressed media to your server then go through the wizard that allows you to customize the colors of the player bar, you can add media links to advertisements both at the beginning and the end of your content (pretty cool and FREE) you can also add your own logo. After you go through the wizard it spits out embeddable code that you set into your HTML...Boom you have video on your page. You can also have the application spit out the entire HTML page that you just need to throw up on a server. EASY. They also provide hosting/publishing of your content with a beefy server, we will cover more of this on my video publishing article I am working on.
Flowplayer is an Open Source (GPL 3) video player for the Web. It features share via email and embed functionality. It also supports full screen with clean easy to use controls. I think it is one of the nicer looking players right out of the box. Use it to embed video streams into your web pages.
Built for site owners, developers, hobbyists, businesses and serious programmers.
Flash technology ensures that 98% of all Internet users can see your videos. Highly skinnable and extendable. No other software makes it easier.
JW FLV Player 4.5
Solid Player. Has a slick share option whereas has shortcuts to popular social networks like Facebook, Twitter and email. Supports a HD option with button or just a higher quality clip. The Dock also will fade out if pointer is not hovering over the player. Also supports captions via a plugin. Easy to tweak via Flash Cars. For a bit of cash you can take advantage of several options like Skinning Library, AD Solution via Google AdSense, and Video Content Management System to name a few.
The Name is simple but this player is packed with options. The coolest thing is the internal gallery that highlights a thumbnail, a title, and brief description. It has auto scroll action. Supports Full Screen MOV, MP$, F4V, and of course FLV codecs. Customizable and has a API to extend the options.
AS3 FLASH VIDEO PLAYER
A no frills AS3 Player that would be good for embedding into a flash project. Clean design and rather simple to get working inside a FLA.
WEB STUNNING PLAYER
Playlists, thumbnail carousel, progressive downloading, streaming, advanced video adjustment controls, hardware accelerated fullscreen mode … Everything you'll need to provide rich user experience. The thing that makes this one stand out is the user can control the lightness, color and so on...Supports You Tube video feeds and really is the Swiss Army knife of video players. Paid version has even more options a must see for a total solution.
MC MEDIA PLAYER
Flash-based media player for embedding video, audio and still images in web pages. It is free to use for both non-profit and commercial websites.
There are currently two versions of the player: MC Classic (previously known as the 720x360 Edition) and MC Altair (beta). MC Classic is a multi-format player that includes a playlist menu with unlimited folders. Great for displaying all your files in a single interface. Supports FLV, H.264 (mov, mp4), MP3, JPG, PNG, GIF, SWF.
The MC Altair is a single-file video player designed to be both easy to set up and extremely customizable. Supports FLV and H.264 (progressive download and RTMP streaming).
PHP FLV DRIVEN PLAYER
I had to include this one if you are keen a driving your video player via PHP.
This version 2.2 includes the flash version checker to insure a smooth user experience for users that do not have the latest Flash Player .
The included source code in .FLA file format source code can be modified if you have knowledge of Flash
We also added a loading bar for those users who are not yet on broadband which shows the file name being loaded for playing.
Following the dynamic theme...EmbedR is kinda cool player that you can build a custom playlist of videos from any of the top video sites on the net. It is best to create a relationship in the content then post the player on your site. Has a cool fluid navigation option
I had to include Vimeo because this is one of the best players on so many levels that is a snap to embed into your site. Vimeo is more then just a publishing site but I will get into that when I write my Article on video publishers. Just had to mention this as I find it easy for many of my clients to deal with it. It is just that branding that I normally do not use it on higher end solutions.
MartijnDeVisser FLA PLAYER
I added this one because this guy seems to show up everywhere for me and this player seems solid. I have not used this one personally but seems to have all the normal bells an whistles...Double click throws it into full screen mode...I like that!
WVZ JUKEBOX VIDEO PLYER
Crappy Site, or at least the design kills me... but the players may be useful especially for those who want to make multiple videos easily accessible to your visitors in one location. Maybe it's a multi-part series, on-going tutorials, or an archive of related video content.
Well, if you made it this far down the list I have saved one of the best for last. The Moyea Player is one of the sweetest solutions as far as player functionality and customization. Every single aspect of this player or streaming player, including the behavior and the appearance, can be customized and previewed right away and no hand coding needed. Better yet, most of the customizations can be implemented with flashvars. You can set up YouTube like gallery thumbs, add plugins that will deliver google analytics, HTML Ad insertion, A Video Search Plugin enables player users to search videos from almost all video sharing sites (like YouTube, Dailymotion, Blip.tv etc), RTMP Stream Plugin allows you to add video streams, including live video streams onto your website. Really! For Free! Users can randomly jump to any part of the video’s timeline, without having to wait until it is loaded, add watermarks and so on. This is one of the best all around solutions in the list. Enjoy!
